Parish Hall
St. Peter’s Parish Hall was completed and officially opened on 30th September 2007 by Archbishop Harper. Photographs of the building of the new hall and the opening can be found in the Gallery.
Although primarily intended for Parochial use, when not in use by the Parish the facilities in the Hall can also be made available to other users within the community.
The Hall is already being used by the St. Peter’s Badminton Club. The St. Peter’s Indoor Bowls Club is delighted with their new home after waiting patiently to play since the old hall became derelict. The Sunday School are making excellent use of the new facilities and Internet and Computer classes can be held in the broadband-equipped Beaulieu Room. Other parish activities are in the pipeline.
Community organisations also making regular use of the Hall include Parents and Toddlers, AA, Al-anon, AWARE, NA, the Drogheda Institute for Further Education, St. John’s Ambulance, Cuidiú Breastfeeding Support Group and Drogheda Gamers.
One-off uses to date have included a weekend Arts Exhibition by Perfectvision Art and Design Workshops, interval refreshments for the several musical recitals which are regularly held in St. Peter’s, meetings of the Drogheda Community Forum, a pre-Christmas Worship Service and Nativity Play coffee morning for the PTA of our National School, and a reception to honour the visit of the Metropolitan of the Indian Orthodox Church whose local congregation under the leadership of Fr. George Thankachan worship each month in St. Peter’s.
